"Spare some molten slag, mister?"

Been keeping very busy lately. I'm on the look out for anyone who knows a thing or two about small scale art casting in metal. And getting it done for minimal cost *cough* I think I heard that someone at the lapidary club has access to an art foundry but if any of you guys know of one in the Brisbane metro area then I'm keen.

Back in May a very good friend of mine insisted I go along with her and a few others from our acting classes to a seminar about better auditioning skills and I'm glad I went. The casting director personally asked me to make an appointment do an audition for the upcoming 'Chronicles of Narnia' film being shot here on the Gold Coast. The audition itself went very well and I was very happy with the way it went. Suffice to say I didn't get the part of 'Dufflepud #1', but it was one heck of an experience that I'll never forget. I'm interested to see when the film is released late next year who got the part. I'd be happy just so long as it isn't friggin' Tom Cruise. But all is not lost, I had a T.V. documentary crew come over to my place to film my collection of Tarantulas and interview me for a documentary about the work of Dr. Robert Raven, the senior arachnologist here at the Queensland Museum.

I'm also very happy for a close friend of mine who has just finished his PhD in entomology (insects) and was just today given the keys to the Australian National Insect Collection storage facility at the CSIRO. So many bugs, so little time...
